Sydney:If you are visiting a government office in Kazakhstan, you will now have to leave your smartphone at the reception irrespective of if you are an on-duty official or a common man.
According to a report in www.sbs.com.au, a leaked government memo suggests that officials and visitors in Kazakhstan will no longer be allowed to bring smartphones into government offices.
The government document, leaked to the media, said that smartphones will be banned from March 24 for officers and civil servants.
The new policy is aimed at preventing leaks of sensitive documents.
The memo cites "increasingly frequent cases of confidential information being leaked through the WhatsApp mobile application" and instructs public servants to use only basic mobile devices with no cameras or internet access, the report added.
