New Delhi: Dreaded terror group Islamic State has crucified two civilians in Deir ez-Zor, seventh largest city in Syria, for not observing the laws of Ramadan.

According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), two civilians were crucified on the old wall of al-Hesba for breaking the fast in Ramadan and applied 70 lashes on each of them.

Since the start of Ramadan, the ISIS has imposed strict fasting rules and has been punishing those who are violating it with crucifixion and public lashing.

Last year, ISIS militants have crucified more than 100 people, including children, who failed to observe fast during the holy month.

It had also released a video that showed several men being crucified in public for the crime of eating during daylight hours.

Eid-al-Fitr, also called 'Feast of Breaking the Fast', is an important religious occasion celebrated by Muslims worldwide. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims are decreed as per Quran to fast and spend time in prayers. After almost 30 days of fasting, Muslims observe Eid-al-Fitr as a day to celebrate and thank Allah for the holy month of Ramadan.
