Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor on Monday said there was no organised terrorist infrastructure in his country -- two months after the Indian Air Force struck Jaish-e-Mohammed terror training camps in Pakistan's Balakot.
Addressing the media, General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said, “Since the last two months India has been continuing to lie. And we have restricted ourself from responding to that lie. We told them we were not involved. India then violated our airspace; we then gave the ultimatum that we would respond when we see fit, just like the PM [Imran Khan] said.”
He said that Pakistan took international media to the site of the Indian airstrike in Balakot to "expose" India’s claim of killing 300 people, adding they would facilitate the "Indian media too if they choose to come to Balakot to see the truth."
Ghafoor also "warned" India "to not test the resolve of Pakistan's" and said, “The Pakistan Army, with the support of its 207 million people, will defend the country if and when required.”
Tension between India and Pakistan escalated after the February 14 Pulwama terror attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed that killed 40 CRPF jawans.
Amid mounting outrage, the Indian Air Force carried out a counter-terror operation, hitting what it said was a JeM training camp in Balakot, deep inside Pakistan on February 26. The next day, Pakistan Air Force retaliated and downed a MiG-21 in an aerial combat and captured an Indian pilot, who was handed over to India later.
