Supporting India’s right to defend itself, the United States has said that India’s surgical strike against Pakistan was a calibrated and responsible move.
Talking to India Today, the outgoing US Assistant Secretary of State Neha Biswal said that India should act when it is needed to defend its people.
However, she added that India should also try to prevent escalation.
Neha Biswal’s statement comes immediately after India's new Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that India will be ready to carry out more surgical strikes if needed against terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Neha Biswal pointed out that the United States has demanded action against Hafiz Saeed and the terror groups in Pakistan.
She also clarified that the US justice department placed a bounty for evidence against Hafiz Saeed following a clear understanding of his role in the Mumbai attack.
