India is planning to sell defence equipments to UAE during the ongoing visit of Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to a report in ‘Khaleej Times’.
Quoting officials of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the report says that India may offer the deadly Brahmos missiles, which it jointly developed with Russia, to UAE during the visit of Sheikh Nahyan who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
"There have been talks on the Brahmos missiles, but India will immediately offer only the equipment for which it holds IPR rights," Amar Sinha, Secretary with MEA, told Khaleej Times.
The report adds that India is interested in joint production of aircraft, arms and armoured vehicles with UAE.
The two countries are likely to sign a few agreements on defence and maritime transport during Sheikh Nahyan’s visit.
The report further quotes Indian officials as saying that the bottlenecks in the way of $75 billion investment from UAE to develop India’s infrastructure have been removed.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke the protocol and personally received Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the airport.
The UAE Crown Prince is the chief guest at the Republic Day on January 26.
