Terming the Kashmir issue as an ‘unfinished’ agenda of partition, Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain today said that India was not ‘positively’ responding to Islamabad’s peace efforts.

Addressing a joint session of the Parliament, Hussain choose to highlight the contentious issue of Kashmir and the strained bilateral relations between Islamabad and New Delhi.

He said that India has become a ‘major obstacle’ for durable peace in South Asia.

“India has become a major obstacle for durable peace in the region. Instead of positively responding to Pakistan's peace efforts, India sent Kulbhushan Jadhav, terrorists and other spies,” he said.

The Pakistan Army had sentenced Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav on charges of espionage after a secret trial. However, the International Court of Justice last month directed Islamabad not to hang Jadhav until final judgement is delivered in the case.

During Hussain's address, the Opposition parties burst into jeering and chanting slogans against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The President, however, continued his address to the joint session, marking the fifth and last session of the current Parliament.
