In an embarrassment to the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar has alleged that the PM office is taking arbitrary decisions in matters relating to promotion of senior bureaucrats.
According to a report in ‘Dawn’, Captain Mohammad Safdar specifically targeted the prime minister’s personal secretary, Fawad Hassan Fawad and said that he is taking decisions on promotion of government officers of grade 20 and above on the basis of his own liking.
“An individual is calling the shots and making promotions on the basis of his own desires,” he told members of the National Assembly on Friday.
The report says that lawmakers from both sides of the aisle in the National Assembly supported the Captain Mohammad Safdar’s views and expressed lack of confidence in the Prime Minister Office.
The MNAs termed the bureaucracy “an unbridled horse” and alleged that it paid no heed to the complaints lodged by the parliamentarians regarding their constituencies.
