A doctor belonging to the Hindu community was shot dead in Karachi city of Pakistan on Friday.
56-year old Dr Pritam Lakhwani was a general physician who ran a clinic near Bara Board in Pak Colony for the last 15 years.
According to a report in The Express Tribune, he was shot dead when he was returning home after shutting down his clinic.
The police is yet to determine the motive behind the murder although it is being seen as part of religiously motivated killings that have become a routine in Pakistan in recent times.
Sanjay Perwani , Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA (Member of National Assembly), has already termed the killing of Lakhwani a ‘religiously motivated murder’.
Perwani plans to submit a call-attention notice in National Assembly on August 8 over the issue.
Dr Pritam Lakhwani was a resident of Garden East area of Karachi. After being shot in chest, he was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment where his family took him to Aga Khan University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
