Days after Pakistan’s brazen attempt at infiltrating members of the Hafiz Saeed-led Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) posing as doctors and medical staff into India comes another sham of an exercise that lays bare its attempts to stoke unrest in the already restive Kashmir Valley.
In its latest facade, Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafiz Saeed’s JuD is sending a caravan packed with daily essential requirements to Jammu and Kashmir for the people hit by the current unrest there.
Being sent under the banner of JuD’s charity wing Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), the caravan is loaded with essentials that it has collected through donations across Pakistan.
Earlier, a team of 30 doctors and paramedical staff of 'Muslim Medical Mission' (of the Jamaat-ud-Dawah), headed by Hafiz Saeed, applied for Indian visas to treat and provide medicines to the injured in Kashmir.
However the visa was rejected by the Indian High Commission in Pakistan.
“The caravan will leave Muzffarabad on Tuesday for Chakothi (border Village near Line of Control) from where the essential supplies will be sent to Kashmir from Kaman Bridge (which connects PoK with Kashmir),” FIF said in a statement yesterday.
The essential supplies contains rice, oil, fresh and dry vegetables, clarified butter, baby food and medicines worth lakhs, the statement said. The caravan is being led by FIF chief Hafiz Abdul Rauf.
Hafiz Abdul Rauf, a member of LeT, is wanted in India for his roles in November 2008 attacks on Mumbai. He is accused of raising funds for the terror operation under the guise of his Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation.
“The Indian markets in occupied Kashmir are shut for last three-weeks due to the ongoing curfew and restrictions, the Kashmiri people are suffering badly due to the ongoing unrest, so we will be sending every possible help to our brothers there,” he said.
He accused the global humanitarian organisations and world bodies of being "silent" on the Kashmir issue.
On the other hand, Pakistan Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif and terrorists such as Saeed have been speaking in the same tongue on matters related to Kashmir.
“We in Pakistan will intensify the movement which is taking place in Kashmir. When Pakistan join hands in this movement with Kashmir then Kashmir will become part of Pakistan,” Hafiz Saeed had said at a meeting eulogising Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani last month.
He revealed that Burhan had called him over the phone and informed him about the operation he was working on.
“A few days before his martyrdom, Burhan Wani told me over the phone that it was his wish to talk to me. He told me that now his wish was fulfilled, he was waiting for martyrdom. A few days later news of his martyrdom came,” Saeed said while addressing the crowd.
Speaking in the same language, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif described Wani as a "Kashmiri leader" and hailed his martyrdom.
"The Prime Minister of Pakistan has expressed his deep shock at the killing of Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani and many other civilians by the Indian military and paramilitary forces," said Sharif's office after the militant was killed in an encounter with security forces.
"We are waiting for the day Kashmir becomes Pakistan,” he had said another day, evoking a sharp response from India.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that Nawaz Sharif’s dream of Jammu and Kashmir becoming a part of his country "will not be realised even at the end of eternity".
Meanwhile, curfew remained in force in some parts of Kashmir today to maintain law and order. The Valley came to life last evening following relaxation in strike by separatists.
Many shops and business establishments opened after sundown yesterday as the separatists had announced a relaxation in the agitation programme to allow people to buy essentials in view of the prolonged shut down since July 9 in the Valley.
The separatist groups have been spearheading the agitation to protest the civilian killings during the protests following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani
in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
Protests broke out across Kashmir Valley on July 9, leading to clashes with security forces in which 49 persons have been killed and over 5600 persons injured.
Mobile Internet services continued to remain snapped in the entire Valley where the postpaid mobile telephony services have been restored across all networks.
