Donald Trump will be sworn-in as 45th President of the United States of America today. He will assume office just ten weeks after stunning America and the world by winning the Presidential election.

Chief Justice of Supreme Court John Roberts will administer him the oath of office using a Trump family bible and one known as the Lincoln Bible. He will take oath at noon, local time, (10.30 pm IST), succeeding Barack Obama.

The eyes of the world will be on Trump as he takes the oath of office and offers his 20-minute long inaugural address.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence will also be sworn-in today.

Yesterday, Trump and Pence arrived in Washington. They first attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, where more than 4 lakh military veterans and family members are buried.

Today, Trump and his family will attend a worship service before going to the White House with his wife, Melania, for coffee with Obama and his wife, Michelle.

In keeping with tradition, the outgoing and incoming President will then ride together from the White House down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol for the inauguration ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, Obama will exit the Capitol and resume their lives as private citizens.

'Trump's inaugural address would be very personal'

Donald Trump's inaugural address is going to be a ‘very personal’ and sincere statement about his vision for the US, the President-elect's spokesman said.

"The (inaugural) speech is going to be a very personal and sincere statement about his vision for the country," the incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters at a news conference.

"He will discuss what it means to be an American, the challenges that we face as members of the middle class. He'll talk about infrastructure and education, our manufacturing base. I think it's going to be less of an agenda and more of a philosophical document," he said.

Immediately after his inauguration, Trump would deliver his address to the nation. According to some media reports, it is expected to last 20 minutes.

Spicer said that Trump is still working on the text of his speech and it will be about his ‘vision of where he sees the country, the proper role of government and the role of citizens’.
