Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s newly constructed luxury hotel in downtown Washington D.C was vandalized on Saturday afternoon.
The messages of “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice No Peace” were spray-painted at its front entrance leading into the Trump International Hotel, which opened in mid-September.
District of Columbia police said someone spray-painted the phrases “black lives matter” and “no justice no peace” on the front of the building on Saturday.
On Sunday, the phrases were covered up with pieces of plywood.
Police spokeswoman Aquita Brown said on Sunday that police have not identified any suspects. The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. Saturday, and police are investigating.
Donald Trump’s organization won a 60-year lease from the federal government to transform the historic Old Post Office building on Pennsylvania Avenue into a luxurious hotel.
Rooms at the hotel start at just under $400 (Rs 26,598) a night.
Twitter user @AngryBlkManDC posted a video Saturday of the Trump International Hotel being spray painted graffiti.
The suspect, allegedly a man in a yellow shirt and blue hat, was caught on video spray-painting the words "Black Lives Matter" on the side entrance of the hotel along 12th Street, police said.
