Reacting sharply to Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s warning that Pakistan would be "splintered" into 10 pieces if it fails to quell cross-border terrorism, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the Bhatariya Janata Party’s  scheme to divide Pakistan was a ‘lunatic’s dream that would never be fulfilled’.

On Monday, Rajnath Singh had accused Pakistan of "conspiring" to divide India along religious lines and warned Islamabad of dire consequences if it failed to mend ways.

"Pakistan came into existence after India got divided on religious lines but it could not keep itself united. In 1971, it got split into two and, if it does not mend its ways, it will get splintered into 10 pieces and India will have no role in it," Rajnath Singh said.

According to a report in ‘The Express Tribune’, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan took strong exception to Rajnath Singh’s remarks and said that Pakistan was not dividing India on the basis of religion but it was being divided owing to the BJP-led government’s policies.

“How a party and government in India which is based on religious fanaticism, divisiveness, hate and violence, can level allegations against Pakistan,” he questioned.

Chaudhry Nisar further alleged that under the BJP government,  all minorities in India were in great danger and fearful as life was made difficult for them.

“The government of India created a wall of hate among different religions for its nefarious designs. These anti-minority policies of the Indian government had scared Muslims and other minorities,” he added.
