Mohammed Bello Abubakar, the 93-year-old Muslim cleric of Nigeria who married 103 women and fathered 203 children, passed away on Saturday.
According to a report in Daily Mail, the Muslim cleric died from an unknown illness and large crowds turned out for his funeral on Sunday.
The report adds that some of his wives are believed to be pregnant.
Mohammed Bello Abubakar tied the knot 130 times, although 10 of his marriages ended in divorce.
In 2008, other Muslim preachers criticised Abubakar for marrying more than 4 wives, as permitted under Islam, and demanded that he must divorce 82 of his 86 wives (at that time) within 48 hours.
Mohammed Abubakar, however, refused to concede to the demand and said that it was his 'divine' mission to keep marrying.
The Muslim cleric also added that he had a god-given ability to control his many wives.
"A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them,” he told BBC in 2008.
Mohammed Abubakar , however, urged others not to follow in his footsteps, and pointed out that he was able to cope with having nearly 100 wives because of the divine mission he was given.
