With water level in Yamuna rising due to incessant rains and release of water into the river by Haryana, Delhi Government on Wednesday night asked residents of low-lying areas to remain alert and if possible shift to safe places.
Delhi Revenue Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said Haryana has released 50,000 cusec water yesterday on Yamuna which is expected to reach Delhi by tonight.
He said flood control department as well as disaster management authority have been told to remain alert and take necessary steps to meet with any eventualities.
Chauhan said all concerned departments were told to coordinate and effectively deal with the situation. PTI
