Ahmedabad: Chinese President Xi Jinping will soon arrive here on his three-day India visit and a traditional Gujarati style red carpet welcome awaits him during his six-hour visit to the state. Xi will be arriving at Ahmedabad Airport where he will recieve the Guard of Honour. PM Narendra Modi will himself be receiving  the Chinese President keeping aside the protocol,

After their meeting in Ahmedabad, the two sides will also ink some bilateral agreements.

Trade and investment are expected to be on  top of  the agenda when the two leaders meet today.

Modi's personal cook Badri will oversee the food section. As many as 150 Gujarati dishes are on the menu for the dinner, being prepared by a team of experts from different parts of Gujarat and the Taj Hotel team from Mumbai and Delhi.

Modi, who arrived in Ahmedabd Tuesday, said visiting heads of states should travel beyond New Delhi and see smaller towns to understand the country's diversity better.

Xi Jinping will be visiting Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and spend some time there along with Modi, who is to host a private dinner for the Chinese president at the Sabarmati Riverfront Park.

In the evening, PM Modi and President Xi Jinping will leave for Delhi.

On Thursday, Modi and Xi would hold talks at Hyderabad House which would be followed by the inking of several agreements, including on infrastructure and railways, between the two sides.

The day also marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 64th birthday.
