Batala, Jul 5: A lady doctor at a civil hospital here was allegedly thrashed by an attendant of a patient yesterday, police said.
Following the incident, all the doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital went on strike for two hours, but later rejoined work after police registered a case and arrested the woman, Daljeet Kaur, who assaulted the doctor.
Dr Anju Bala and Daljeet, who was attending a patient in the gynaecology ward, got into a spat when the doctor asked all the attendants to vacate the ward.
But Daljeet, who was attendant of patient Rajwinder Kaur, refused to go out of the ward and started misbehaving with the doctor. Dr Anju alleged that when she tried to call other staff members, Daljeet started thrashing her.
The hospital staff came to Dr Anju's rescue and later called a strike.
On the complaint of Dr Anju, police registered a case and arrested Daljeet, SHO, City Police station, Lakhwinder Singh said.
