Today, a heart wrenching incident of a 31-year-old AIIMS doctor committing suicide came as a major shock. The lady slit her wrist with a sharp-edged object after discovering that her husband was a gay.
This incident has, undoubtedly, highlighted the plight of those men/women who get into the marriage without knowing the sexual orientation of their partners.
As it is a social issue, India TV decided to conduct a poll on the social networking sites Facebook and Twitter to get the opinion of a common man over the complicated issue.
Poll: Should a modern woman gracefully accept a gay husband?

We asked the people to share their views with arguments either in favor/against the question. Here is what they said.
1. Will men accept Lesbian wife?
Most people, who participated in the poll, posed a counter question to the men saying “Will a husband accept a lesbian wife”.
2. Sexual orientation shouldn't be kept hidden
People believed that it was important for a person to disclose his/her sexual interest prior to the marriage. He/ she shouldn't spoil other person's life and instead find a suitable match for themselves.
Some demanded capital punishment for those who hide their sexual orientation.
3. Divorce, and not suicide, is the option
Social birds emphasize that educated people should behave in a sensible manner. They should rather go for divorce then ending their lives, as it happened with Dr. Priya Vedi.
4. Open Marriage
Giving the freedom to your partner to meet their sexual need from outside is a naïve alternative suggested by the people on social media. If men can go out and have their sexual desires fulfill then why not women, the people questioned.
5. It is not an important topic to discuss
Shockingly, Some people felt that discussing this issue was a waste of time. It is a serious concern that some people in India don't even want to talk on it, leave aside finding any solution for it.
