New Delhi: As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to deliver his first speech from the historic Red Fort tomorrow morning, the clouds of shifting the Independence Day venue from here to other place in future is looming large.

Known for his experiments as the Chief Minister of Gujarat during his 12-years tenure, Modi constantly shifted the venue of Independence Day celebrations from Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, to other small towns.

In 2003, Modi had unfurled the tricolour from the capital of old Gujarat, Patan. Later on, the trend was followed by organizing events in Anand, Himmatnagar, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Mehsana, Palanpur, Rajpipla, Rajkot, Nadiad, Junagadh and Bhuj on August 15.

He also declared six-day festival 'Swantrata Diwas' on this occasion. Modi also started the practice of launching several projects to mark the Independence Day celebrations in the chosen town.

This year, Gujarat's state-level 68th Independence Day celebration will be held at historic Anhilwad heritage site at Patan.
