Lucknow/Kanpur, Jan 20: In a disturbing incident, wild dogs entered the Kanpur zoo on Saturday night, and after sneaking into the deer enclosure, killed 31 blackbucks in one go. Only seven survived.
The bodies of the blackbucks were found this morning during inspection, creating alarm among the zoo officials. Three guards on night duty were immediaely suspended.
A furious UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered the suspension of Kanpur Zoo director K Praveen Rao and five other employees with immediate effect.
The zoo director said, during morning inspection, the staff found some of the wild dogs still eating the remains of the dead blackbucks.
The post-mortem of the dead blackbucks have been conducted and a probe team has been set up, to find out how the wild dogs sneaked in through barbed wires.
