Koraput (Odisha), June 3: A man was killed and another injured after being attacked by a wild bear in Odisha's Koraput district today, official sources said here.
The animal mauled to death one Dhansari Bhatra in the Andramunda forests under Kotapad forest range and injured Rajendra Bhatra when the duo was passing through the forest area, range officer Jagdish Prasad Patnaik said.
While Dhansari was found dead by the villagers, Rajendra was taken to the nearby hospital in a serious condition for treatment.
After being informed of the incident, forest officials rushed to the spot.
The incident is the second such one in the area during the last one month.
A rogue bear had killed eight persons and injured five in the area in the first week of May and angry villagers had beaten the animal to death.
