Unable to see the pain and misery of her husband, Baby Chaudhary, 30, wife of 26/11 terror attack victim Shyamsundar, 36, has requested the government for mercy killing of her husband, reports Mumbai Mirror.
“I love him but I can't see him howling and screaming in pain. Sometimes he becomes breathless, making us difficult to gauge if he is alive. I can't see him this way. The least the government can do is accept our demand,” Chaudhary said.
Shyamsunder was injured in the Vile Parle bomb blast on November 26, 2008. The RDX-laden bomb was planted by Abu Ismail and Mohmmed Ajmal Qasab in a taxi during the 26/11 terror attacks. Two people died and several others were injured in the Vile Parle taxi blast.
Shyamsunder, who worked in the packing unit of a leading biscuit company, was returning home from work when the blast occurred. He received severe injuries on his head, shoulder and hands.
Unfortunately during the course of his medical treatment, Shyamsunder ended up losing his memory. His wife has written a letters to the Chief Minister, political leaders and local MLAs requesting them to ask the government to grant her permission for mercy killing of her husband.
“After undergone two surgeries, he was feeling fine. But after few months, he began forgetting things,” she said. Further tests revealed that Shyamsunder had a blood clot in his brain that affected his memory. “I have taken him to various hospitals and the doctors have given up on him,” she said.
Shyamsunder, who lives with his wife, two children, sister and his parents was the sole bread-winner of his family. His Meena Chaudhary, who now works in a telemarketing firm said, “I earn Rs 6,000 per month and find it difficult to support seven people. I just pray to God that if he has to die, it should be a peaceful death.”
Empathising with the plight of the Chaudharys, local MLA Krishna Hegde said, “I have written to the CM and requested him to provide them with monetary support.” Hegde alleged that when he asked Shyamsunder's former employer to provide his wife (Baby) with a job, they flatly refused since Shyamsunder had borrowed a loan from them.
