Thus it is also known as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, and marks the end of the nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations.

At Ayodhya, which is considered to be the birthplace of Rama, hundreds of devotees take holy dip in river Saryu and visit temples to offer special prayers on the occasion.

Ramnavami is one of the most important festivals of the Hindus, particularly the Vaishnava sect of the Hindus.
