Speaking on the occasion, Patel claimed agriculture growth rate in Gujarat was now over 17 per cent.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the first Krishi Mahotsav in 2005 (when he was CM). Such initiatives of bringing scientific approach in traditional techniques of farming have proved crucial in strengthening our agriculture-based economy,” Patel, who succeeded Modi as the Chief Minister of the state last week, said.
She shared some statistics about agriculture scenario in Gujarat. “Over 6 lakh farmers have adopted drip irrigation technique on 9 lakh hectares of farmland. As many as 115 water bodies have been filled up with the help of Narmada canal network. With our efforts, 122 diseases in cattle had been completely eradicated.”
