Mumbai, Nov 3: Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today took a swipe at his estranged cousin and MNS chief Raj Thackeray, saying the Sena made him big.
“Raj Thackeray was born into our family. We made him big. My mother fed him. But he turned his back on the house he was born into,” Uddhav said.
Earlier, the MNS chief had attacked Shiv Sena saying that Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam had risen in the politics only due to the Sena.
Nirupam's recent remark that north Indians in Mumbai can bring the city to halt has triggered a war of words between him, Sena, MNS and fellow leaders of north Indian origin.
Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh has endorsed Nirupam's statement. Commenting on that, Uddhav said that he had been to Singh's residence only once, during Ganesh festival. But post 2009 Assembly polls, an MNS MLA and Kripashankar had celebrated Holi festival together.
Uddhav also claimed that during the 1992-93 Mumbai riots,Shiv Sena had protected the north Indian Hindus in the city.
