Kolkata, Jun 1: The West Bengal government today said it was contemplating waiver of tuition fees for poor but meritorious students of engineering and technical education in government and private colleges.


Students whose annual family income was Rs 2.5 lakh or less would be eligible, Higher Education Minister Bratya Basu said today.

Students belonging to one criteria would get 50 per cent of their tuition fees waived, Basu said without giving details.

The minister said that he would discuss this with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. PTI
