Ghaziabad, Apr 18: The non-bailable warrant against dentist Nupur Talwar in the double murder case of her teenaged daughter, Aarushi and their domestic help, Hemraj, was today extended by special CBI court here till April 30.

The CBI told the court that it would not arrest Nupur till the pendency of her special leave petition before the Supreme Court but sought the extension of the warrant as an instrument to take action against her in case she does not get relief from the apex court.

The CBI said since the deadline of warrant was ending today they needed fresh orders from the court.  Special Magistrate Priti Singh observed warrant could not executed by the CBI since to special leave petition was pending in the Supreme Court.

The court fixed the next date of hearing on April 30 when it would decide the fate of the warrant.

The agency also filed its compliance report before court in which it said that searches were conducted at six places to arrest Nupur but she went into hiding.

It also claimed that she knew that the court has issued a NBW against her but despite that she kept evading arrest.

The special CBI court had issued the warrant against Nupur, mother of 14-year old Aarushi, as she was not appearing before the court, despite orders.

Talwars only daughter Aarushi was found dead at the family's Noida residence on the intervening night of May 15 and 16, 2008. The next day, the body of their servant Hemraj was found on the terrace of the house.

Nupur's husband Dr Rajesh Talwar was present in the court but she did appear before it.

After the warrant was issued against Nupur on April 11, the CBI had carried out searches in Delhi and Noida to arrest her.

Two days later, Nupur approached Supreme Court seeking relief where CBI assured the apex court it will not take any action against her during the pendency of her plea.

After hearing the CBI's assurance, the bench of A K Patnaik and J S Khehar said that they had “total faith” in the agency and referred Nupur's petition to the Chief Justice of India for its listing to an appropriate bench for hearing.

Meanwhile the CBI officials had said the impression given out by Nupur that the agency was hounding her was absolutely baseless. They maintained that no attempt was made to arrest her after she moved the Supreme Court.

Nupur pleaded in her petition before the Supreme Court that besides being an aggrieved mother and law abiding citizen, she also enjoys the reputation as one of the best dental surgeons of this country and if she would be arrested, then people would not make any distinction between arrest at a pre-conviction stage or post-conviction stage of this present case.
