New Delhi: The CBI team probing the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh today met Chief Secretary Anthony JC de Sa and DGP Surendra Sinh to discuss logistical support for carrying out investigation of the massive recruitment and admission scandal.
CBI sources said Joint Director R P Agarwal, accompanied by another senior officer, held a meeting with the two top officials of the state administration.
In order to carry out the large-scale investigation, the agency will require logistical support from the state government, including setting up offices, for which the meeting took place today.
Sources said the team will be based in Bhopal through the probe.
The 40-member CBI contingent headed by Joint Director R P Agarwal had got down to work yesterday and held discussions with Sudhir Sahi, head of the Madhya Pradesh police's Special Task Force (STF), which had investigated the scam before the central agency took over the probe under instructions from the Supreme Court yesterday.
Agarwal, a 1986 batch Assam-Meghalya cadre IPS officer, is posted as Joint Director, anti-corruption department, at the CBI Headquarters.
A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu had on July 9 transferred the probe of all Vyapam cases, including the related deaths, to CBI.
