Guwahati: Voters who have not been issued Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) have to produce alternative photo identity documents at the polling station for identification before casting votes for the Lok Sabha polls on April 7, 12 and 24 in Assam.
A notification issued by Chief Electoral Officer Vijayendra yesterday said as per an order of the EC yesterday, the alternative documents could be passport, driving license, service identity card with photograph issued to employee by central/state government, PSUs and public limited companies.
Passbook with photograph issued by bank, post office, PAN card, Adhar card, Smart Card issued by Registrar General of India (RGI) under National Population Register (NPR), MGNREGA Job Card, health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour, pension document with photograph and authenticated photo voter slip issued by the election machinery could also be produced, the notification said.
In the case of EPIC, it said, clerical error, spelling mistake, etc., should be ignored provided the identity of the voter can be established by the EPIC.
If it was not possible to establish the identity of the elector on account of mismatch of photograph, etc., it said the elector has to produce one of the alternative photo documents, the notification said.
