Kolkata: To mark the closing of the year-long celebrations commemorating 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, West Bengal government will observe “Vivek Chetna Utsav” over a week-long programme from January 5 to 12 next year at all blocks in the state.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in her Facebook post today said for the first time the state-level programme will be held on Red Road and thousands of school children, youths and cultural groups from far-flung areas like Jangalmahal, Sunderbans and Darjeeling would be present at the programme on January 10.
The decision on the programme, she said, was taken in the presence of the secretary of Belur Math, the global headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission set up by Swamiji himself.
