Greater Noida, Feb 21: Villagers in Chak Vikrampur near Greater Noida were on Sunday locked inside their houses by the authorities to prevent them from meeting UP chief minister Mayawati and air their grievances, reports India TV reporter Raman Thakur.
Authorities put locks on the houses, with residents inside to prevent them from coming out.
Mayawati flew in to her ancestral village Jevar in a chopper, and then proceeded to visit Greater Noida by road. This took the officials by surprise. As Mayawati witnessed the bad condition of the roads, she issued an ultimatum to the officials to get the roads repaired within 3 month.
The chief minister visited the local school, which had been kept spic and span. Said Mayawati: "I checked the records of the local police station and am not happy. I am not happy with the condition of roads also and have given the officials three months time to rectify."
