Lucknow: Senior advocate of Allahabad High Court and former MP Vijay Bahadur Singh has been appointed as the new Advocate General of the state.
"Singh has been appointed as the new advocate general of the state," a senior official confirmed.
Singh was a former BSP MP but was later expelled from the party after he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this year's general elections.
Later Singh, who was additional Advocate General during Mulayam Singh Yadav's stint as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, joined the Samajwadi Party.
The post was vacant after the government removed Vinay Chandra Mishra on July 29.
Meanwhile, a PIL was filed in the High Court which directed the government to complete the process by September 4.
