Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raj today directed officials to complete projects related to water conservation and creation of water grid in a time bound manner.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting here on works being carried out in the Mahi and Chambal river basins under the ambitious project to inter-link river basins, the Chief Minister asked officials to involve public for the success of such projects by launching an awareness campaign soon.
The CM said the project should be expanded to cover the entire state in a phased manner so that the problem of water scarcity could be tackled, according to an official release. She also directed officials to explore the possibility of generating electricity from these projects.
Raje emphasised on the importance of wide coverage and timely execution of projects and said a team of experts will soon join and assist the government in these areas. She issued instructions that the employees of watershed projects should not be engaged in any other work.
Water conservation expert Sriram Vidre presented the progress report on the works being carried out in the Mahi and Chambal river basins, the release said. The meeting was attended by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, Water Resources Minister Sanwar Lal Jat, Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini and Energy Minister Gajendra Singh Khiwsar, among others.
