Pilibhit, UP, Sept 3 : BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi on Friday appealed to the Centre not to "throttle" the voices of anti-corruption crusaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Swami Ramdev.
Addressing a meeting here followed by a press conference, Varun Gandhi warned the government that efforts to throttle the voice of the anti-corruption crusaders will send a wrong message to the younger generation.
Varun Gandhi thanked the media for playing a stellar role in highlighting Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption.
Supporting the Jan Lokpal Bill, Varun Gandhi called for stern provisions in law to give deterrent punishment to the corrupt. At present the maximum punishment is only five years in jail, he pointed out.
Varun Gandhi also alleged that another scam has taken place, with all the 11 urea factories in India closed down and the government allowing large import of urea.
