New Delhi: Delhi's student's fraternity has decided to protest against those objecting to Valentine's Day celebrations. Students have decided to take a stand against moral policing outfits like Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha who are threatening to hold forced marriages of couples found together on V-Day and conduct ‘shuddhikaran' rituals for the inter-religious ones.
The student fraternity has made up its mind to voice their dissent through street protests against moral police groups. Reportedly, Jawaharlal Nehru University Student's Union (JNUSU) is organizing a protest in front of a Hindu Mahasabha office while another student's group, Democratic Students' Forum has written an open letter to the Hindu Mahasabha President.
Ashutosh, president of JNUSU, said, “From ghar wapsi campaigns to Good Governance Day on Christmas, all such moves by the Modi government have faced a robust democratic resistance in JNU. This time, too, the Hindu Mahasabha's atrocious attempts at communal and patriarchal moral policing on February 14 must be strongly resisted."
Another students' body, National Student's Union of India (NSUI) organized a ‘love parade' in Delhi University's North Campus on Friday to celebrate the spirit of love and voice against the moral policing outfits.

According to a Times of India report, a good number of students participated in the parade. Volunteers distributed chocolates and roses to everyone and then many of them sang songs and conducted plays. NSUI national president Roji M John was also present for the event.
It is known that the right-wing student group Akhil Bahratiya Viyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has preferred to keep a distance from the matter, saying that it is “currently focusing on other important issues”.
Rohit Chahal of ABVP, terming this as a trivial issue, said that they are not bothered much by these matters. He said that they want to fight for students' issues in DU like accommodation and discrimination against North-East students.

Hindu Sena, is reportedly, not discouraged by such protests. It is known to execute its plans. The right-wing Hindu organization will have spying volunteers at malls and parks with two pundits at each spot to solemnize marriages.
Vishnu Gupta of Hindu Sena said, “We are not against love; we are against western culture like observance of Valentine's Day. Pyar kiya toh darna kya? We will definitely get a couple or two married.”
Some of the spots known to be manned by them are – Central Park and Lodhi Garden.
Another outfit, Hindu Sena, has, meanwhile, declared that it will "definitely solemnize at least a couple of marriages if people are found celebrating Valentine's Day in parks and public places".
