Uttarakhand considers making Haridwar, Uddham Nagar no-mining zones

Dehradun: Uttarakhand government is mulling making Haridwar and Uddham Singh Nagar districts of the state as no-mining zones and has ordered officials to assess the impact on the exchequer if such a move is implemented.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand government is mulling making Haridwar and Uddham Singh Nagar districts of the state as no-mining zones and has ordered officials to assess the impact on the exchequer if such a move is implemented.  

Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked Chief Secretary N Ravi Shanker to assess various aspects related to making Haridwar and Uddham Singh Nagar districts mining-free, including the impact on the exchequer, according to a state government press release here.

Rawat asked the Chief Secretary to submit his report in the next cabinet meeting, the release quoting CM's media advisor Surendar Kumar said.

The CM also asked Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma to submit proposal for making all district headquarters in the state wi-fi enabled, Kumar said.
