Jaipur: United States is looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to America later this month and hopes to grow economic ties with India.
Addressing a gathering of entrepreneurs at American Business Corner in Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry here last night, US Ambassador to India Kathleen Stephens said the Indo-US relationship needs to be reintegrated.
She expressed the hope that the new government in India with strong democratic mandate will not only have a strong engagement with the US, but also with the neighbouring countries and the world.
“American private sector is eager to join with India to invest. We want to see India and US relationship grow in both ways. We want to see American companies come and invest here and vice versa,” she said.
“We have this year issued more student visa as compared to last year and we want to see the relationship growing and deepening,” she said, while expecting the Indo-US trade to rise from over USD 100 billion to USD 500 billion in near future.
She said that US President Barack Obama had called the Indo-US relationship a defining partnership of the 21st century and it would further strengthened. “We look forward to welcome Prime Minister Modi when he visits US later on this month. It is very exciting to see him visit,” she said.
The Ambassador on the occasion also informed that the US in collaboration with the Indian government is going to hold a Technology summit in November this year in Delhi to create new partnerships between industry, research, academic institutions, and governments and for boosting bilateral trade and investment.
