Chennai, Sep 7: Anna Hazare's campaign against corruption came in for praise today from a US diplomat who said it was a “hallmark of democracy” to demonstrate peacefully.
“It is been very interesting to see that citizens are engaged in something that is important in so many countries— anti-corruption. I think it is a hallmark of democracy when you get an opportunity to demonstrate it peacefully,” US Consul General Jennifer Mcintyre told reporters here. Mcintyre, who assumed charge recently, said she was a firm believer in democracy.
