A UPSC notification dated March 5 this year had not only excluded Pali language, but also Hindi and other regional languages in the exam. Later, a partial change was made to the notification allowing UPSC aspirants to take their test in any regional language.
Even after the change in UPSC notification, Pali language and five other foreign languages continued to be excluded.
The UPSC aspirants are alleging that the exclusion of Pali and other foreign languages by authorities was a deliberate attempt to block their career.
A PIL filed by Sunil Kadam is presently before the Bombay High Court division bench, which had issued notices to the Centre and UPSC.
