New Delhi, Apr 21: Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today said he was not surprised over Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu's comment on economic reforms as the UPA lacked a “political team” to push through the reform initiatives.
In a statement, he criticised the UPA for “paralysis” in implementing essential reforms and said the hope of the nation now lies on a “renovated NDA” coming to power at the “earliest”.
Swamy said the reforms of 1991 were authored by a “political team” which was pushed through and implemented by the political sagacity of the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao but the UPA government now lacks a “daring political team”.
