Lucknow: Pandemonium erupted in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad today after Opposition BJP members jumped into the well demanding a “proper reply” regarding law and order situation in the state, leading to adjournment of the Council for sometime.
The written reply was given by the government on a question raised by BJP leader Hriday Narain Dixit in the Upper House during the Question Hour regarding steps taken to improve law and order in the state.
Dixit had questioned that what decision were taken in June month to improve law and order and steps taken, main reasons behind increase in crimes, whether responsibility was fixed for the failure of police system and action taken against the irresponsible officers.
On behalf of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Leader of the House, Ahmad Hasan, read out a written reply in the House. On a supplementary question, Hasan said major decisions were taken to improve law and order and action was taken against senior officers.
He said that the crime rate has declined in the state and a canard was being spread to defame the government.
Leader of Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui objected that the reply was not in accordance with the question raised by the member.
Dixit said the Leader of the House was giving a “wrong reply”.
Dissatisfied with the reply, BJP members came into the well and demanded a proper answer after which Chairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
The adjournment was later extended till 2 pm.
