Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government today decided to raise the superannuation age of the faculty in government medical colleges to 65 years from the existing 60 years.

A decision in this connection was taken during a meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, an official spokesperson said here.

The cabinet has also decided to relax the maximum age limit for recruitment of medical teachers.  “The decision has been taken keeping in view adverse effect on medical education due to constant decline in the teaching staff,” he said.

The cabinet approved a proposal to transfer 6.6 hectare land to the higher education department for setting up Government Agriculture College.

The other proposals approved by the cabinet include setting up a textile park in Farukkhabad district and creating 1,308 temporary posts of Revenue Inspector and reorganise the cadre.

The spokesperson said that creation of these many posts would cost the state exchequer Rs 11.5 crore.  It also gave approval to invite suggestions on Uttar Pradesh State Food Commission Regulations under National Food Security Act.
