Dehradun, May 25: Depressed over her son's death seven months ago, wife of a senior police official posted in Uttar Pradesh allegedly hanged herself at her paternal home in Nainital, police said here today.
50-year-old Mitakshi Chitrangad, wife of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Chitrangad, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room by her father and sister, they said.
In a suicide note recovered from the scene of the incident, Mitakshi has held herself responsible for her death, they said.
Mitakshi was in depression after her son Parth allegedly shot himself dead last year, which may have driven her to take the extreme step, police sources here said.
