Rajahmundry: Seemandhra Lawyers Joint Action Committee (JAC) will stay away from court proceedings till September 29 in protest against Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

The JAC co-convener Muppalla Subba Rao said a resolution to this effect was adopted in a meeting held at Anantpur today.

“Lawyers from 13 districts in the region will not attend courts till September 29. The JAC also decided to participate in ongoing agitation with non-political and employee JACs till September 27, and will decide their future course of action at their meeting in Hyderabad on September 28,” Subba Rao said.

He said the lawyers also decided to provide free legal aid to those facing various cases in the ongoing agitation against creation of separate state.

Meanwhile, to amplify their opposition to the proposed move to carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh, protesters displayed a 500 metres national flag at Narsapur in East Godavari district.

A rally expressing anguish over the Centre's decision to split the state was held by teachers and non-gazetted officers association In Kakinada, women raised the pitch for united state by participating in “Samikhya Mahila Garjana”.
