Bathinda, Punjab, Apr 14 : Several thousand unemployed linemen demanding jobs on Saturday shouted slogans as Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal arrived to address the Baisakhi Mela at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo.
The linemen had assembled with their families at the mela, and as soon as Badal started his speech, they shouted "Punjab sarkar murdabad".
Policemen immediately swung into action and removed the protesters from the ground.
Punjab government had promised to reinstate all 5,000 linemen, but only one thousand of them got back their jobs, while the others are literally on the streets.
