Moga, Apr 4: Two factions of Shiromani Akali Dal clashed soon after Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ended his Sangat Darshan programme at Jogewala village in this district.




The incident happened last evening soon after Badal left the village after his Sangat Darshan programme, where he listened to the grievances faced by people in the village.

While one group was led by Kuldeep Singh, Block President of SAD which consisted of veteran Akalis, the rival group was led by Nirmal Singh, owing allegiance to SAD MLA Joginderpal Jain.

Police sources said that the two groups first entered into a heated argument, then grappled with each other, tossing each others turbans, hurled abuses and even threw chairs at each other, adding that they had to intervene to seperate both the groups.

The SAD district President Tirath Singh Mahla said that district unit of the party would take up the matter with party higher ups for appropriate and suitable action against those who violated discipline, if needed.
