Mumbai, Jul 18: Two persons were killed and five others were injured, one of them critical, when a speeding tempo coming from Marol towards Andheri East, rammed into four autos, a car and a motorbike on Tuesday night.
The mishap took place near Chakla. Eight pedestrians were run over by the speeding tempo.
The tempo driver has been arrested and police is ascertaining whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of mishap.
Those killed include Upendra Chauhan, who was returning home from work, and Hamza, a 53-year-old man.
One of the injured Rajesh Yadav said, the tempo came with such a speed that bystanders could not run and save their lives. The tempo finally hit an electric pole and stopped.
