Srinagar, Oct 16: Pakistani troops Tuesday opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, killing two civilians, the Indian military said.

The Pakistanis violated a ceasefire along the LoC, which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, in Uri sector in the northern district of Baramulla.

Defence ministry spokesman Lt Col J.S. Brar told IANS: "Two civilians were killed when Pakistani troops fired a mortar towards our side. Since Oct 3, Pakistani troops have been intermittently violating the ceasefire in Uri."

Pakistan Rangers guarding the international border in the Jammu region of the state have also violated the ceasefire many times in the last one month.
