Haflong (Assam): Two militants belonging to the Dima Hasao National Army were apprehended and arms recovered from their possession during a joint operation by the Army and police in Dima Hasao district.
Acting on specific intelligence input, a joint team comprising troops of 43 Assam Rifles and state police launched a joint operation in Maibong area of the district yesterday and apprehended a militant, Assam Rifle sources said today.
The nabbed militant has been identified as Joyness Hojai alias Armaan and an AK-47 rifle along with 30 live ammunition and a pair of combat uniform recovered from his possession.
Following Hojai's interrogation, security forces launched further operation and apprehended another militant from Didambra under Maibong police station.
The apprehended militant has been identified as Supal Thaosan and 9 mm rounds of live ammunition was recovered from his possession.
Dima Hasao National Army (DHNA) is a new insurgent outfit that came into existence in 2013 and was involved in extortion and anti-social activities in the district.
