New Delhi: Two Delhi Police constables were dismissed from service Sunday for attempting to rape an underprivileged teenaged girl here, police said.
Constables Amit Tomar and Gurjinder Singh, posted in third battalion of Delhi Police, were dismissed Saturday.
"The victim was loitering in west Delhi's Vikaspuri area with two other girls when Tomar lured them with monetary promise and reached Singh's residence in Kingsway Camp," said N. Gnana Sambandan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West).
"Singh was already present. Both constables tried to force themselves on the girl. On hearing the girl's cries, her two friends who were in the other room, also started screaming for help," said the officer.
He added the girls were rescued after someone called the Police Control Room.
A special investigation team under Pramod Kushwaha, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), has been constituted.
