Indore: A 21-year-old youth succumbed to dengue fever in a local hospital here, a senior official said today.
This is the first case of dengue death in the region, Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) district unit head doctor G L Sodhi said.
The victim was undergoing treatment in a private hospital since September 5, and he passed away on September 14, Sodhi said.
The report received from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College's Microbiology Department said the victim was suffering from dengue fever.
According to the report, four more patients are suffering from dengue including an eight-year-old boy and a 65-year-old woman.
Sodhi said that so far 18 patients have tested positive for the dengue in the region.
